New Romance Authors: Where to Find Them

book_sunlight_teaWhile we all have our trustworthy and stalwart authors we’ll always come back to, or check up on to make sure we haven’t missed any new titles they’ve released, it can be fun sometimes to check out someone different and maybe discover a new favorite.

But the number of authors out there is staggering, and it can be hard to know where to start, especially if you’re new to the genre.

Luckily, we’ve done some of the hard works and compiled a number of sites where you can find plenty of different authors, and easily narrow down your romance-related areas of interest.

Afro Romance Books

Naturally, we couldn’t go without suggesting Afro Romance Books right off the bat. We have titles by by our top-quality authors ranging from cowboy romances to paranormal suspense stories, all handily collected here on the site so you can explore them at your leisure. Take a look and see if there’s anything that interests you right now!

Goodreads

One of the more popular book sites out there, Goodreads is a great place for people to explore romance authors because it’s all user-driven. Members on Goodreads keep track of books they read and offer both ratings and opinions on them, which creates a kind of collective summary of the book as a whole, and it makes it easy to find out whether a particular author is exactly who you’re looking for. Romance readers on Goodreads seem to be especially thorough, and there are plenty of lists featuring members’ favorite authors and books that fit certain subgenres or moods, too.

Be careful, though, there’s so much to get through on the site that you might get lost in it for hours!

Amazon.com

While it’s a bit of an obvious choice, Amazon.com is popular for a reason. Like Goodreads, there are a lot of people on Amazon.com who are dedicated to leaving reviews for romance books, making it very clear which authors are worth reading right off the bat.

Amazon.com also has a lot of smaller, less well-known authors on its site, as it has in recent years become “the” place for new writers to self-publish with ebooks. This part of the site can definitely be hit-and-miss, but it’s absolutely worth checking out some of the deals that regularly go on just in case there’s a diamond in the rough you might have missed otherwise.

The best way to peruse Amazon.com is by using the sidebar to narrow down your genre choices once you locate the romance section of the site, as otherwise the sheer size of it can be a bit overwhelming!

All About Romance (www.likesbooks.com)

all_about_romance_screengrabAs the title implies, this site is a romance hub. There are interviews with romance authors, weekly reviews of thousands of different romance novels, as well as blogs and forums for discussion, so you won’t be disappointed if you take even a cursory look around All About Romance.

Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

If you’re looking for site that has a slightly different take and is heavy on humor, it might be worth checking out Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. Not only does the site have reviews and books for sale, but the members often have meetups where you can get together with like-minded romance readers and discuss what you’ve finished – or are in the middle of – and it could prove to be a great place to get recommendations for new authors.

Dear Author

DearAuthor.com is a site comprised entirely of reviews for romance novels currently on the market. If you’re looking for opinions to trust when it comes to finding a good new author, Dear Author is the place for you. The reviews are always thorough and regularly hilarious, so it’s worth taking a look even if you don’t find anyone you like.

The Best Romance Author Sites On The Web

Hopefully the list provided helps give you some ideas on where to find some new authors. Of course, there’s unfortunately always going to be a little bit of internet sleuthing to be done in order to find your perfect new romance writer, but with the number of sites out there providing helpful reviews from other readers like you, the search isn’t as hard as it used to be. Good luck, and let us know if there are any other sites out there that you trust too!
